to the younger ones

To the younger ones I encounter each day, I want you to know that I never stop seeing myself in you. In your eyes, in your laugh, in the way you skip down the hallway or drink from the water fountain, or maybe it’s the way you throw yourself in the corner when your pride is hurt, or even how you explain the rules to the game every single time. Today, I saw it in your hands. Just as you outstretched your hand with respect, extended your grip with a heart full of hope and reached your arms and hands outward to hold your own future. You make it so easy to see my childhood victories, curiosites, and dreams in yours. Though I may not have encountered all the same things, each one of you — whom I call my friends — reminds my soul that I am not alone in any of this thing we call life, I never was.

knowing that much, let me assure you that in your younger, your middle, and in your older age neither are you ever alone.
