Love Like Home

I hope to know and to have a familiar love

Yet one I have never experienced before

Bringing sensations of comfort and safety at dusk

Only to learn a new significance every dawn

A love that prompts the feeling of the local laundromat

For even when it’s full of strangers, all I feel is welcomed

Relating to the casual and friendly visit to a bookstore

Where I always leave more inspired than when I arrived

I seek the companionship that takes my mind back —

Back to the meaning of going steady in all it’s worth

So yes, I long for a love that I’ve never known

But I need one that takes me back home
